No Child…
author: Nilaja Sun
director: Wendy Dann
A gifted young African-American actor, Nilaja Sun worked as a teaching artist in a tough Bronx high school, directing students in a play about life in prison. At times funny, at other times sad and deeply moving, "No Child…" dramatizes her experience through a bravura one-person performance. Insightfully directed by Wendy Dann, the play offers a complex and troubling alternative to the simple, sweeping policies of "No Child Left Behind." In the words of playwright Nilaja Sun, "I created this piece to be a snapshot from the trenches, something entertaining and provocative that'll get people talking about the state of our public schools."
