| Production Internships/Apprenticeships |
The Hangar Theatre offers hands on production internships in all areas of technical theatre. These internships are normally designed for college students who have little or no professional experience but have worked on productions at their college or university. All internships run the entire summer and provide a stipend and housing. College credit may be arranged with your institution. Electrics Interns
Assist in the hanging and focusing of each Mainstage, Kiddstuff and Wedge production, help with dimmer check before performances, troubleshoot problems, and run the lighting console, alternating between Mainstage and Kiddstuff technical rehearsals and performances.
Sound Interns
Assist in the hanging and patching of equipment, and mix the sound for all productions, alternating between Mainstage and Kiddstuff technical rehearsals and performances.
Costume Shop Intern
Assist in the building, altering, painting/dying of costumes and assist in actor fittings. Costume shop interns might also assist the Wardrobe Supervisor in running shows when this becomes necessary.
Carpentry Interns
Assist in the maintaining of shop and tools; building Mainstage, Kiddstuff and Wedge sets; and preparing and executing strikes and load ins for all Mainstage, Kiddstuff and Wedge shows. May float to Paint during Mainstage changeovers.
Paint Intern
Assist in the painting of the Mainstage productions.
Properties Intern
Assist in the building, buying and borrowing of props for all Mainstage, Kiddstuff and Wedge productions.
Stage Management Interns
Five Interns work on a rotation, established by the Production Manager to Stage Manage Lab Company productions in the Wedge, Stage Manage various special events, Assistant Stage Manage Kiddstuff productions, and to work as a Production Assistant on one of the Equity Mainstage shows where they can earn points towards AEA Stage Management.
Wardrobe Intern
Assist the Wardrobe Supervisor to maintain dressing rooms. Assist in running costumes for Mainstage or Kiddstuff technical rehearsals and performances, assist actors to dress and set costumes. Also assist in the Costume Shop when not running a show.
Technical Apprenticeships
The Hangar Theatre offers hands on technical apprenticeships in scenery, electrics and sound. These apprenticeships are designed for theatre artists early in their careers who have no professional experience and may have worked on only a couple of productions. Apprentices get the opportunity to work alongside theatre professionals and contribute to the Hangar’s shows. Apprenticeships will involve some daytime work as well as the running of shows. Apprenticeships run the entire summer and provide housing. Apprentices are responsible for their own daily living expenses. College credit may be arranged with your institution. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Production Apprentices
Are you a behind the scenes type of person? The Hangar Theatre needs you to make their productions happen. Work on crews for lighting, set, costume, and props. Run a spotlight or assist with fast costume or set changes for Mainstage and Kiddstuff productions. Run the sound board for a Lab Company Wedge production.
Gain professional experience in technical theatre
Meet and interact with top notch artists, actors, designers, and stage managers
Help with load in and strike of Mainstage productions
Be a part of Hangar Special Events, like opening and closing parties and company picnics.

Returning Apprentices become eligible for full-time internship positions with the Hangar
No experience necessary. Training is provided. If interested, call now to set up an informal interview, held on Saturday, April 28th.
Who: 13 years and up. Must be interested in many aspects of theatrical production.
When: Late May - August. Dates and times will vary. Should be available for long days the week before a show opens, and then for all performances of a run.

Lab Company Designers
Lab Designers are provided with housing but there is no stipend.
Eight designers rotate through both Kiddstuff and the Wedge to work on a total of six shows. There are two designers for each discipline: lights, sound, costumes and scenery. Lab Designers are provided with minimum shop support and funding. Applications are available through the Lab Company.
