All unsolicited Mainstage scripts will be returned unread to the playwright.
The Hangar Theatre accepts and strongly encourages script submissions of full-length plays and musicals for consideration in its Mainstage season from playwrights with whom the theatre has a previous relationship, including those formerly produced in the Lab Company New Play Festival, as well as the writers of previous School Tour, KIDDSTUFF, and Mainstage productions at the Hangar.
Additionally, the Hangar accepts agent submissions of full-length plays for consideration in its Mainstage season.

2008 Lab Company Playwrighting Residencies
The Hangar Theatre is seeking submissions of One-Act Plays for its 2007 Lab Company Season. Plays must be previously unproduced.
Four playwrights will be offered a two or three-week residency at the Hangar Theatre in July and August 2007. Playwrights will participate in the rehearsal process. Early career directors chosen from a national search conducted by the Drama League of New York will direct the plays, and members of the Hangar Lab Company, a professional training program for emerging artists, will perform them. The residency will culminate in four to five public performances on the Hangar’s second stage, “The Wedge.” Playwrights will be offered transportation, housing, and a small stipend.
Playwrights should keep in mind that production values are minimal and that many of the actors in the program are undergraduate students.
Submission Guidelines
- Plays must be previously unproduced.
- Plays must have a running time of 30-60 minutes.
- Playwrights must electronically submit one copy of the play, along with a resume and/or biography.
- Only one submission from each writer will be accepted.
- Playwrights who have had their work previously produced be the Lab Company may not submit a play.
- Submissions must be received no later than March 14, 2008.
