Named in honor of longtime Executive Director and Hangar Theatre education advocate and pioneer, the Lisa Bushlow Education Fund supports the Hangar’s education programs including Project 4: Artists in the Schools, Next Generation School of Theatre, and our professional training programs. A donation to the Lisa Bushlow Education fund helps to support the following programs: 

Project 4: Artists in the Schools

Teachers and artists collaborate to decide the focus of the residency based on a topic from the NYS curriculum.

Next Generation School of Theatre

Each summer, the Hangar offers theatre arts classes for young people through its Next Generation School of Theatre. Kids entering grades 3-12 study with theatre professionals in classes devoted to storytelling, acting, dancing, singing and more.

Our newest program for kids in grades 4-6, Spring Break-a-Leg is a one-week musical theatre camp offering students the chance to experience all aspects of performance in a fast-moving, fun, and professional theatre environment during spring break.

Professional Training Programs

For the last 25 years, the Hangar has committed to nurturing the next generation of great theatre artists through our Hangar Lab Company, comprised of actors, playwrights, choreographers, assistant directors, and dramaturgs. This nationally recognized pre-professional program provides a safe space for young artists to flex their creative muscles in the most hands-on way possible.
