This summer, take advantage of four free programs at the Hangar.
Prologue Series, Dramatic Dialogues, Tuesday Talkbacks, & Wedge Performances
Pre-show Prologue Series
In an effort to enhance your experience at the Hangar Theatre, the artistic staff is excited to share our prologue
series, a pre-performance event tailored to provide audiences with additional dramaturgical information about
each production of our mainstage season. In order to heighten audiences’ experience at the theatre and deepen
their understanding of what they are about to watch unfold on the stage, members of the Drama League
directing fellowship and the Hangar’s artistic staff will provide discussion on topics relating to each production
in our season. Among these, topics might include performance styles, the body of work of a particular playwright,
themes in a particular production (such as the relationship of Italians to cooking and food in our upcoming production
of I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti), or social issues being addressed in the performance. Prologues will begin
45 minutes prior to each performance (except for Sunday matinees that are preceded by a Dramatic Dialogue)
and will conclude 20 minutes before curtain. We offer this series free of charge to all ticket holders.
We look forward to seeing you.
As part of our pre-show prologue series, join us 45 minutes before each showing of I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spagehetti for a discussion on the importance and place of Italian food and cuisine. Drama League follows and members of our artisitic staff will discuss some of the origins of Italian cuisine and the role it has played on both stage and film. From timeless classics such as The Godfather trilogy, to live performances such as ours, to the popularity of live cooking programs and competitions on television, there is something deeply attractive to the craft of cooking. Come and share your questions and experiences with us each night before curtain. In the meaning, you can enjoy the links below which feature Italian mothers doing and talking about something they are very passionate about, their food.
We will continue to offer our popular Dramatic Dialogue pre-show discussions before the first Sunday matinee of each Mainstage production.
Our well attended Tuesday Talk-backs, which take place on Tuesdays during the run of each Mainstage production, invite audiences to stay after the show to hear the cast and creative team members give some inside information about the production.
Finally, the Hangar offers free admission to Hangar patrons and all community members to its Wedge Series of cutting edge performances, which are directed by Drama League directing fellows and feature members of the Lab Company. These shows take place under the Hangar Tent, which is transformed into a unique performance venue for each Wedge show. The Drama League directors get to select their Wedge titles and each performance begins 15 minutes after the Mainstage curtain call that evening. Click here
