Folk, pop and rock are given a Celtic slant by Ithaca, New York-based vocalists the Burns Sisters. Accompanied by Bobby Sweet, Kevin Maul and their own mandolin, the two sisters — Annie & Marie — harmonize with heartfelt spirit.

Their new CD Looking Back, Our American Irish Souls will be available for purchase both nights before being released in January.  Don't miss this event!

"I think it a truly magnificent, quite superb piece of work.....your beautiful voices blend so perfectly, the vocal performances and the playing throughout is perfect too...and so moving...you have injected new life onto some old classics ( From Clare TO Here/ Ned of the Hill, Free Born Man & Too Ra Loo are just excellent versions..and even the sometimes-abused Danny Boy is treated with grace and feeling : giving it the dignity it deserves..) and your take on KIlkelly is by far the best version I've yet heard."

Ithaca favorites The Burns Sisters return to the Hangar Theatre on December 12 and 13 at 8pm for a Holiday Concert and a special pre-release of their new CD Looking Back...Our American Irish Souls. They will be performing original songs and holiday classics from around the world. The Hangar has partnered with the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and will collect donations for that organization on both evenings.

The Burns Sisters take pride in their Irish heritage and celebrate it in their music, bringing a Celtic slant to their songs and arrangements. They describe their new CD as “an inspirational look at our American Irish heritage.” The album was recorded with musicians including Seamus Egan, Joanie Madden, Blackie O'Connell, Jim Kimball, and three-time Grammy winner Stuart Duncan. CDs will be available for purchase at the Hangar concerts before being released to the general public.

Concert attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items or to make an onsite donation to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. There is a great need for food items that support their BackPack Program, which gives children who are at risk of hunger a bag of nutritious food each Friday throughout the school year. Kid-friendly items ideal for this program include boxed macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, crackers and cheese, canned tuna/chicken, and small cans of fruit. Over 2,500 students receive packages from the BackPack program every week. While a donation to the BackPack Program is highly encouraged, any and all donations will be accepted. Patrons who make a donation will be entered into a raffle to win fabulous Hangar prizes.

Tickets for The Burns Sisters Holiday Concert start at $18!
